9 Household Things to do on New Year’s Day

Greetings Everyone! Here we are at the brink of yet another year. These are just some of the things I do going into each new year. Feel free to implement these into your own annual routine, or use these to create your own list.

  1. Pour your favorite drain cleaner down all your drains. Yes, even though you think you may not need it. Especially if you can remember the last time you actually used drain cleaner.

  2. Scan or photo copy everything in your wallet. Well almost everything, cash not included.

  3. Clean up your file cabinet. Are you up to date on all your vehicle and home maintenance? Is your emergency road service plan active? Are all of your medical records intact? Do you know where all your warranty information is located?

  4. Change all your passwords. It’s just a good thing to do these days.

  5. Backup all your data. Things just happen electronically that sometimes can’t be explained. Be prepared as much as possible.

  6. Get a new calendar and/or planner. AND USE IT! The calendar on our phones and computers are great. But there should still be a paper backup – just in case.

  7. Donate all the clothes you didn’t wear the previous year. Be honest, if you didn’t wear them ALL LAST YEAR, will you really miss them. Whether it was fit or still, bless someone else’s life. It’s a really good way to start of the new year!

  8. Choose an investment into yourself. Read a new book, take a class, learn a new skill. Take yourself to another level this year. Make sure you tell someone so you can be accountable to complete this new endeavor. Post it to your social media following, you may even gain healthy support.

  9. Change the batteries in your smoke detectors. This just makes good sense.

Live on purpose. Be intentional. Enjoy your life. Leave a mark. Make your life count.
